OUR STORY

Since the family businesses of Patterson & Associates and Southstate Insurances joined forces in 1995 to form Patterson Pedler Insurance Brokers, directors Mark Patterson and Blair Pedler have expanded the business from a young team of 7 people in Bunbury to a team of over 40 professional and dedicated staff operating out of offices in West Perth, Bunbury, Geraldton, Albany and Katanning.

Nexus Risk Services remains a privately owned expanding organisation dedicated to supplying clients with quality advice and service. Our locations throughout Western Australia enable us to offer strong local relationships with our clients whilst also ensuring we have the collective strength to deliver a complete and competitive range of insurance and risk management services.

Our primary focus is on client services and we therefore have high expectations on our staff and the consultants that provide those services. We employ, train and nurture people who are eager to improve their knowledge and expertise within their chosen fields. This is evidenced by the long term loyalty of our both clients and key staff.

We believe that we are different to other insurance brokers operating in Australia. We have the collective size and resources to provide specialist services that smaller brokers struggle to provide, and larger international brokers promise but generally only deliver to their international clients. We are of a size where we can dedicate key staff to focus on promised delivery to our clients as well as obtain the best terms from top rated insurers.

Within the company we have people who have had significant success in delivering appropriate insurance programs encompassing all aspects of insurance and risk to clients. Whilst we maintain strong relationships with insurers our first and main responsibility is to our clients and we encourage our clients to allow us to operate for them on an 'in house' basis as part of their team. Insurance broking is not about cheap premiums, but more importantly security. Our priorities are Insurer Strength, Policy Coverage, Service Standards and finally, competitive premiums. When disaster strikes no one remembers how cheap the premiums were.

We are members of the National Insurance Brokers Association of Australia (NIBA) which means that we are supportive of the only body in Australia representing professional Insurance Brokers. NIBA has more than 500 member firms who handle over 90% of all premiums transacted by licensed Insurance Brokers in this country.

We are also shareholders and members of IBNA Ltd, unlisted public company that has now joined forces with Austbrokers Ltd to form A & I Members Services P/L (AIMS) which uses the collective strength of over $1.5billion in premiums to undertake joint marketing activities, form strategic alliances and negotiate favourable policy wordings and financial outcomes with insurers and service providers.
